iVOX summarizes new-year poll

The iVOX company together with newspaper Segodnya summarized new-year poll which included over 600 people from all over Ukraine who filled in on-lie questionnaires. One could also participate in the poll in the SOCIS website.

The aim of the poll was to reveal the attitude of Ukrainians to New Year holidays in general.

According to the poll, 84.9% of Ukrainians like New Year holidays. Regarding new-year presents, differences were revealed between what respondents plan to give and what they expect to receive. 37.4% plan to give new-year souvenirs which are actually expected four times less frequently. Many respondents would like to receive books and clothes but in reality only half of those who want them will receive them. One of the most desired presents for Ukrainians during this year is money. Meanwhile, 16% of respondents did not know what they wanted as a present. According to the poll, most people have spent 100 to 300 Ukrainian hryvnas for presents during these holidays (over 26%).

Ukrainians were ambiguous regarding the result of 2008. Over 40% responded that 2008 was better in some ways and worse in other aspects than 2007. Regarding 2009, respondents feel rather optimistic – 41.4% believe that 2009 will be much better for them than 2008 was.
